In connection with the UGC-CPE project Developing Micro-history: Methodology and Practice, the Post-graduate & Research Department of History is organizing a three-day workshop on 8th, 9th and 10thFebruary 2012. This workshop is a follow up of the programmes and workshops organized by the Department earlier, for launching the project and to discuss the methodological and theoretical issues involved in it. On the basis of such activities, the Department has prepared a list of themes to be worked out and a team of project participants is constituted. The teams have initiated the project work and have conducted preliminary surveys and fieldwork.
The present workshop is intended to review the work already done and to discuss about the future course of action to be followed. It is aimed at providing theoretical and methodological clarity on micro-historical research and to equip the project participants with necessary skills to proceed on with the task confidently.
We cordially invite you to be with us on the occasion and to take part in the whole deliberations of the programme.

ഫറോക്ക്: ചരിത്ര പുനര്‍ നിര്‍മിതിയില്‍ പുരാരേഖകളുടെ പ്രാധാന്യവും സംരക്ഷണവും വിളിച്ചോതി ഫാറൂഖ് കോളജില്‍ തുടങ്ങിയ ദ്വിദ്വിന പുരാരേഖ പ്രദര്‍ശനം സമാപിച്ചു.
ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ഭരണകാലത്തെ മലബാറിലെ സാമൂഹിക രാഷ്ട്രീയ ചരിത്രങ്ങള്‍ പറയുന്ന പ്രദര്‍ശനത്തിന് ഒട്ടേറെ പേരാണെത്തിയത്.
സംസ്ഥാന ആര്‍ക്കൈവ്‌സ് വകുപ്പിന്റെ സഹായത്തോടെ ഫാറൂഖ് കോളജ് ഹിസ്റ്ററി അസോസിയേഷനാണ് പ്രദര്‍ശനം നടത്തിയത്.
1803നു ശേഷമുള്ള ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് മലബാറിന്റെ അപൂര്‍വമായ ഇരുന്നൂറോളം രേഖകളാണ് പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിച്ചത്. മലബാര്‍ കത്തി നിരോധിച്ച് ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ 1884ലെ വിളംബരം, അറബിക്കടലിലെ കപ്പല്‍ ഛേദത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് മലബാര്‍ കലക്ടറുടെ കത്ത്, ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളുള്‍പ്പെടെയുള്ള ആരാധാനായലങ്ങള്‍ നിര്‍മിക്കുന്നതിന് ഭൂമി ദാനം ചെയ്യുന്നത് സംബന്ധിച്ച് ടിപ്പുസുല്‍ത്താന്റെ വിളംബരം, 1806ലെ പാസ്‌പോര്‍ട്ടിന്റെ പകര്‍പ്പ്, 1903ലെ മൈസൂര്‍ റെയില്‍വെ ലൈനിന്റെ പ്രോജക്ട് റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട്, കോണ്‍സ്റ്റാന്റിനേപ്പിള്‍ ചക്രവര്‍ത്തി അറക്കല്‍ ബീവിക്ക്1779ല്‍ അയച്ച കത്ത്,ഇ.എം.എസിനെ അറസ്റ്റുചെയ്തവര്‍ക്ക് ഇനാം പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചുള്ള 1941ലെ വിളംബരം തുടങ്ങി അപൂര്‍വ രേഖകള്‍ പ്രദര്‍ശനത്തിലുണ്ട്.
സംസ്ഥാന പുരാവസ്തു വകുപ്പ് തയാറാക്കിയ 'ഗതകാല സ്ത്രീകളുടെ അടയാളങ്ങള്‍' ഡോക്യുമെന്ററിയും പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിച്ചു. രണ്ടു ദിവസം കൊണ്ട് 2000ലേറെ പേരാണ് പ്രദര്‍ശനത്തിനെത്തിയത്.
പ്രിന്‍സിപ്പല്‍ പ്രഫ. എ. കുട്ട്യാലിക്കുട്ടി ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു. ചരിത്ര വിഭാഗം മേധാവി പ്രഫ. ഇ.കെ. ഫസലുറഹ്മാന്‍ അധ്യക്ഷതവഹിച്ചു. കോഴിക്കോട് റീജനല്‍ ചീഫ് ആര്‍ക്കൈവിസ്റ്റ് സി.പി. അബ്ദുല്‍ മജീദ്, ഡോ. ടി. മുഹമ്മദലി എന്നിവര്‍ വിഷയം അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു. ഡോ. എം.ആര്‍. മന്മദന്‍, കെ.ലുക്മാനുല്‍ ഹക്കീം, എം. സലീന, പി.എന്‍. ഷമീര്‍, പി. സാബിര്‍, സി.കെ. വിന്‍സി എന്നിവര്‍ സംസാരിച്ചു.

Farook College host History Congress
Farook College will host the 67th Session of the Indian History Congress beginning on March 10 2007. Management,teachers and students of the Farook College have been working overtime to make the three-day congress a historic event. Farook College is the first college to host the congress since it began in 1935. All these years, the congress was held at various universities across the country. The congress is being held in Kerala for the fourth time. No other college under Calicut University could match the initiatives taken by Farook College. The college management has mobilised all its influence and resources to meet the challenge of conducting the Indian History Congress for the first time on a college campus. Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will inaugurate the congress at 10.30 a.m. on Saturday. Calicut University Vice-Chancellor Anwar Jahan Zuberi will release a souvenir on the occasion. Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, New Delhi, Kerala State Archives, and Kerala Council For Historical Research have agreed to conduct an Exhibition in connection with the Congress Session. A Book Exhibition is also arranged by the Organising Committee.As many as 1,200 delegates from across the country are expected to participate the congress. Many historians, academics and Vice-Chancellors from around the country are expected to reach the campus on Friday evening when the registration opens for the congress.
