Farook College host History Congress

Farook College will host the 67th Session of the Indian History Congress beginning on March 10 2007. Management,teachers and students of the Farook College have been working overtime to make the three-day congress a historic event. Farook College is the first college to host the congress since it began in 1935. All these years, the congress was held at various universities across the country. The congress is being held in Kerala for the fourth time. No other college under Calicut University could match the initiatives taken by Farook College. The college management has mobilised all its influence and resources to meet the challenge of conducting the Indian History Congress for the first time on a college campus. Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will inaugurate the congress at 10.30 a.m. on Saturday. Calicut University Vice-Chancellor Anwar Jahan Zuberi will release a souvenir on the occasion. Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, New Delhi, Kerala State Archives, and Kerala Council For Historical Research have agreed to conduct an Exhibition in connection with the Congress Session. A Book Exhibition is also arranged by the Organising Committee.As many as 1,200 delegates from across the country are expected to participate the congress. Many historians, academics and Vice-Chancellors from around the country are expected to reach the campus on Friday evening when the registration opens for the congress.
